Payment system modernization
Change the system without losing the money flow.
Payment modernization starts with understanding how charges, callbacks, scheduled jobs, and records behave today. I help you identify the risks and define a change plan before replacing the code your revenue depends on.
Work directly with Hasan Burak Taşyürek at HB Global.
Scope, fee, timing, and payment terms are agreed before paid work.
What the work gives you.
The agreed scope determines the depth of each output.
- A payment behavior map
- The relevant entry points, state changes, gateway boundaries, callbacks, and scheduled work described against the available production evidence.
- A prioritized risk register
- Confirmed defects and unresolved assumptions separated, with the affected flows and the reason each finding matters.
- A modernization sequence
- A recommendation for boundaries, verification, and staged implementation, including the questions that must be resolved before changing live behavior.
How I approach it.
I trace how a payment is initiated, recorded, completed, retried, and reconciled within the agreed scope. The current behavior is documented before a replacement design is treated as safe. Tests then check known behavior and intended changes. Implementation can follow under a separate scope with responsibility and release conditions made explicit.
Where the scope ends.
An initial audit does not prove that every payment path is safe or that modernization is complete. Gateway coverage, access, verification, and any operational changes are agreed for the engagement. This service is not a compliance certification or a promise of zero downtime.
The work behind the approach.
Each case describes its own context, decisions, and limits.
The WordPress payment audit
The plugin processed $3.4M a year through Stripe, one of three gateways. The discovery pass surfaced 28 production bugs and informed the next modernization phase. Those figures describe the case; they are not a forecast for another system.
Read the caseBefore we start.
Do you start by rewriting the gateway integration?
The first step depends on what is already known. When current behavior is unclear, I begin with an assessment so a rewrite does not preserve hidden defects or break operational assumptions.
Can you work with our existing developer?
Yes. We agree how the assessment, implementation, and operational decisions fit with your team. The person responsible for each part of the work should be clear.
Do you need customer data in the first enquiry?
No. Describe the flow, the change, and what must remain reliable. Do not include passwords, customer records, or payment details in the first note.
Start with the decision.
Describe the system, the constraint, and what a useful outcome would look like.
